S-BPM stands for "subject-oriented business process management" and refers to a formal notation system for describing and executing business processes. In this system, the focus is on the subject or individual actor.
S-BPM differs from other modeling languages in its low number of modeling symbols and close approximation of natural language—and therefore its similarity to the way people generally gather information, think and communicate.
With this focus on the subject, actors can model their processes from a first-person perspective and experience them immediately. Because S-BPM processes can be executed immediately after modeling.
The subject-oriented business process method conceives a process as a collaboration of multiple subjects organized via structured communication. Just as in the real world. And this is the standard of S-BPM: Always model your business as it really is.
Moreover, S-BPM is a formal IT language. This means that all S-BPM process models can be understood by machinery and computers so that they can be executed immediately. In this way, S-BPM fulfills all the criteria for an optimized business process modeling method: S-BPM models are understandable to both people and computers.
S-BPM is therefore the optimum platform for the interface of business and IT – and it is the only method on the market that makes this possible using a single model type.
With S-BPM you can create applications without special IT knowledge. To do this, you first specify the communication structure (e.g. "What does the customer send to whom?"). In subsequent steps, each subject in the process (e.g. the supplier) can model its behavior from a first-person perspective (e.g. "What do I do when an order arrives?"). Creating IT applications couldn't be faster or more intuitive.
